Why Join?
Most Damerons and Damrons in the United States are descendants of Lawrence Dameron who settled in Virginia, c1652, thus their genealogical lines will most likely intersect at some point. DDFA membership helps support research activities of the only national association devoted exclusively to the study of Dameron and Damron family history. Members can help one another identify and learn about Dameron-Damron ancestors. It also provides a way to sort out the mounds of incorrect or conflicting information being promoted on the internet and other sources. There are three primary aspects of the organization:
Newsletter
The Dameron-Damron Family Newsletter, published twice a year, focuses on genealogical information about the family, its various lines and individuals. Related material may include census records tax records, tax lists, marriages, births, death, land and military records. Thirty-three issues have been published since the first issue was published in 1981. Back issues are available for a reasonable fee. Go to the Dameron-Damron Family Newsletter table of contents examples to get an idea of the type of material that has appeared in past volumes.
Reunions and Gatherings
Dameron-Damron Family Association reunions and gatherings provide the opportunity to meet new friends and possibly a cousin or two. Go to the DDFA Reunions Page.
Internet activity
An online forum allows Dameron-Damron members to communicate via the ddfa.org forum. There is also a members-only DDFA Yahoo! Group. The DDFA web site provides another means of sharing information.
The
Dameron-Damron Family Association was established in 1981.
Dues are used exclusively to produce and distribute the DDFA newsletter.
Any additional contributions are used to support professional research efforts.
Without your active participation the DDFA cannot continue to exist.
More and more
individuals feel that "free" access to information on the
Internet negates the importance of this organization.
Do not let this attitude undermine the purpose and existence of the DDFA!
The Dameron-Damron Family Association is a non-profit organization.
